Kaye Glamuzina
Auckland, New Zealand
A trained musician, Kaye is a dedicated, intelligent and curious practitioner and teacher of āsana and pranayama who believes that yoga offers a unique path for living a joyful, peaceful and contented life. In her teaching, she provides multiple paths using philosophy, āsana, breath work — and most likely the occasional curse — to provide her students with an unforgettable experience. She is passionate about the transformational possibilities that a yoga path offers: yoga transformed- and continues to transform - her life and she is committed to offering that same opportunity to anyone who is interested. Yes … absolutely anyone!
Kaye wants every person to leave her classes with a new way of being in the world, intellectually, physically and spiritually, whether it be for one minute, one day or one year. She believes sincerely that every body is a yoga body and whenever she hears ‘I’m not flexible enough for yoga’ she wants to poke her eyes out. She knows that the ability to execute and post a fancy pose on Instagram says nothing about the quality of one’s yoga practice. Her students retain their power and agency and the autonomy to make wise choices for themselves throughout their practice.
Kaye cares deeply about the tough issues that confront us all today: white supremacy, the impacts of colonisation and cultural appropriation of indigenous wisdom, diversity, equity, meaningful representation, the environment and justice for all. She acknowledges and honours the many victims of sexual abuse by yoga’s ‘gurus’ . She is a committed ally of South Asian teachers, academics and businesses and acknowledges her privilege and power. She uses it for good, without guilt or shame.
